Andrew Jacob Michael is an American folk recording artist, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, originally from Newton, Massachusetts. His single, Pickup Truck, was released in February 2016 under L.N.C. Music Records. The song is from the upcoming debut album Lies That I've Told.

Life and career

Jacob was born in Newton, Massachusetts. His parents were divorced and Jacob was raised by his mother and sister. His father, author Robert Michael, wrote several books about holocaust[1] like "Holy Hatred"[2] and Jacob saw him sporadically. Avi Jacob was teased in school for being anxious and uncomfortable. He went to college, but he left for music and farming. His parents wanted him to be anything but an artist. He began playing the trombone at the age of 8 and guitar at the age of 12. He started to play professionally and toured in 2014, after he unofficially released the song Cannonball, which got him signed to Music Dealers, a Chicago based publishing company. He started touring the USA.

In December 2015, he was brought to CMJ[3] by the band Counting Crows who named him the best folk emerging superstar. He also opened for legendary Dr John[4] in February 2016.

The single Pickup Truck, grabbed the attention of many radio stations and media. On March 3, 2016, Avi was featured on A&R Report as an artist to watch.[5]

2016 – Pickup Truck

(Date of release unknown)[6][7] was released under L.N.C. Music Records. The song is about guilt towards his father's death, who sold his Pick-up truck to help Avi out of his trouble.

"Cannonball" was unofficially released on social media only. An official music video was made and the song will be released officially as the second single from the upcoming album.[8]
