B.K. Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET)[1] is an engineering college affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University and located in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. It was founded in 2007 by Krishnarpan Charity Trust as its technical wing in the chairmanship of Basant Kumar Birla.[2]
History
B.K. Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET) was founded in 2007 by Krishnarpan Charity Trust. Krishnarpan Charity Trust is an Indian Charity Trust was founded by Sir Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Ghanshyam Das Birla & Maniben Patel (daughter of Sardar Patel). The trust is currently headed by Basant Kumar Birla.[2]
Academics
BKBIET is approved by the BCCI (Board of Culture and Creativity of India). Approximately 70% of students are admitted through the Rajasthan Pre Entrance Test for Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy (RPETEAP), 15% through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), and 15% from other schools run by the Birla Education Trust.[3]

BKBIET offers a Bachelor of Technology in six areas that include :[3]

Postgraduate programs
The institute also offers postgraduate degree in Master of Computer Applications ("MCA").[4] To be admitted to the MCA the candidate must possess (10+2) at school level with Mathematics + Graduation (three years duration) in any subject from recognized University with at least 50% aggregate.
CAMPUS
The Institute is located near CEERI lab and BITS Pilani campus.[5]
Residential and dining facilities
The campus contains six hostels: four for men and two for women. All told, these modern-looking hostels span 31,200 square feet and contain triple, double, and single rooms. Although in a separate building, the mess is attached to the hostel buildings. A common room sits above the mess and contains games like, Chess, Carom and Table Tennis. There is a big size TV also in the common room. Students may also dine at the campus Canteen "robo canteen".
Student life
Every year, the students and BKBIET take part in two festivals: Basant and Quasar.
"Basant"
"Basant" is the annual cultural festival. It is celebrated sometime either in March or April every year, and frequently attracts of outside participants. Events include dance, drama, music, stage, mime and even a fashion show.
"Quasar"
"Quasar" is the annual sports competition. Usually held in September, it attracts thousands of outside participants. B.K.BIET-PILANI invites colleges throughout India to participate in events including cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, arm wrestling, tennis, table tennis, squash and weightlifting, chess and some childhood's games such as kabaddi, kho kho, sitolia etc.
Student Activity Center
"Sarala Birla Cultural & Creativity Center" or "sarla birla ccc" is a part of the Student Recreation Zone in BKBIET. The "sarla birla ccc" is for the extracurricular activities of the student.Students can join clubs like – Music Club, Photography Club, Mime Club, Dance Club, Poetry Club, Astronomy Club, etc.
International Organization's Collaboration
BKBIET International Relations Division (BIRD)
BKBIET International Relations Division(BIRD) was established on May 14, 2011.The objective of the BIRD is to encourage the students of the institute to embrace the global education. The division motivates the students to go on internships, look in to avenues of research and management after the completion of the bachelor's degree, serve as a pool of information to all those who find themselves interested in doing their various u higher studies abroad. Majority of the students who took internships went to universities of France. Most Prominently: University of Nantes, University d’Haute Alsace, and IUT Angoulême. The measure of cooperation is exhibited by the fact that an unprecedented Joint Masters Programme is being set up between Polytech Nantes and BKBIET Pilani. And the students are highly motivated to take up higher education abroad in a scene where our peers in other institutes are trying to settle in for a job. The students are already taken off their flights of success with various scholarships under their belt. Counselling, Visas, Scholarships and other helps have always been available for the students of BKBIET through BIRD.

Faculty Exchange Program
BKBIET's faculty members get international teaching and research exposure by visiting French and Thai universities under Faculty Exchange Program quite regularly. Professors from these universities also stay at "BKBIET" and deliver technical lectures.
International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology(IJMOT)
The International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology (IJMOT) provides a common platform to disseminate the original research work and invited tutorials in the area of microwave technology, microwave photonics and optical technology. It is completely online journal. Manuscripts are solicited to cover the original theoretical and /or experimental work in the areas of microwave technology, optical communications and emerging area of microwave photonics.IJMOT is now indexed by SCOPUS, Google, EI-Compendex, EBSCO, and Media Finder.
French Language Course
The French Language Course was started in the year 2007 in collaboration with the French Embassy. The course offers the students the opportunity to be part of the educational exchange programme in near future.

ACM Student Chapter
The Association for Computing Machinery is an educational and scientific society which works with the motto of "Advancing Computing as a Science and Profession". The council is focused on a wide range of ACM activities including:

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
The IEEE Student Branch was opened by the initiatives of few Students.In June 2009 the IEEE Student Branch at BKBIET was established with 26 number of IEEE members and was formally Inaugurated by Dr. V. R. Singh, Chair, IEEE Delhi Section on 19 September 2009. After that till today IEEE-BKBIET has conducted many events like Electro-gaming, Q-rious_1, Spell Bee, Circuit mania, Seal The Deal, Quiz Mania, Vocab, Mock campus Placement, Trips etc. IEEE-BKBIET comes under HUB-3.
Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India’s leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics,Telecommunication & IT.In November 2009 The IETE Student Branch at BKBIET was established.
The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI)
The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) is the national organization for engineers in India.IEI has over 0.5 million members from 15 engineering disciplines in 99 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in engineering and technology world.
Community service
National Service Scheme
NSS is an initiative taken up by BKBIET students to take part in service of humanity.The student team works on a diverse range of social issues including voluntary blood donation, working for the education of the under-privileged, environmental issues, etc.
NIRMAAN
NIRMAAN is a Non-Government Organization, working for the welfare of the society. Nirmaan is a constructive citizen movement for an empowered India, thereby making the world a better place to live in. Nirmaan was founded on 12 February 2005 by a group of BITS-Pilani University students with a passion for humanity and to fulfill our responsibility towards our less privileged brothers & sisters. It has chapters in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Mumbai BITS Pilani and BKBIET Pilani fund raising chapters in Bay Area, Singapore, UK, and New York.
