Buffalo-Lancaster Regional Airport (ICAO: KBQR, FAA LID: BQR, formerly D77) is a privately owned, public use airport in Erie County, New York, United States.[1] It is located three nautical miles (6 km) northeast of the central business district of Lancaster,[1] a village in the Town of Lancaster, east of Buffalo.

Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned BQR by the FAA[1] but has no designation from the IATA.[2]

The runway at Buffalo-Lancaster Airport was planned to be extended from 3,200 ft (980 m) to 5,500 ft (1,700 m), to be completed in 2010, which may allow it to accommodate larger airplanes and private jets. The runway is also an emergency landing site for Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.

Facilities and aircraft

Buffalo-Lancaster Regional Airport covers an area of 100 acres (40 ha) at an elevation of 750 feet (229 m) above mean sea level. It has one asphalt paved runway designated 8/26 which measures 3,200 by 75 feet (975 x 23 m).[1]

The airport is the primary-reliever of the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport.[3]

For the 12-month period ending July 17, 2006, the airport had 30,000 general aviation aircraft operations, an average of 82 per day. At that time there were 37 aircraft based at this airport: 95% single-engine and 5% multi-engine.[1]
