BYP100

BYP100, formally, the Black Youth Project 100, is an organization of young, Black activists founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman on an all charges relating to his February 26, 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin.[1] Founding members include Charlene Carruthers. BYP100 is part of a cluster of youthful, black activist organizations in Chicago, including the group's sister organization, Assata's Daughters, that are closely associated with the Black Lives Matter movement, admire Malcom X's motto, "By any means necessary", and are regarded as more radical than the established black civil rights organizations.[2][3]

The group has worked closely with Chicago Black Lives Matter to defeat the reelection bid of Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez, of whose response to the Shooting of Laquan McDonald they disapprove.[4][3][5]
