Baceno (Lombard Bascén, Walser German: Aager) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 140 kilometres (87 mi) northeast of Turin and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Verbania, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 963 and an area of 68.6 square kilometres (26.5 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Baceno contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Alpe Devero, Croveo, Goglio, Rifugio Castiglioni E. all'Alpe Devero, and Rifugio Sesto Calende all'Alpe Devero.
Baceno borders the following municipalities: Binn (Switzerland), Crodo, Formazza, Grengiols (Switzerland), Premia, Varzo.
