Back to the Streets of San Francisco is a 1992 TV movie based on the 1972-1977 series The Streets of San Francisco. Karl Malden plays a police detective and Darleen Carr portrays his daughter; both are cast members of the original show. The film was directed by Mel Damski.[1] It was released on Jan 27, 1992.
The plot involves the efforts of Mike Stone (newly promoted to Captain of Inspectors) to solve the murder of his old partner, Steve Keller. Ironically, because Keller is dead, the absence of the actor who played him in the series, Michael Douglas, who chose not to appear in the film, has a built-in explanation.
At the same time, Stone is trying to decide which of two competing inspectors, Sarah Burns or David O'Connor, should take his place as the lieutenant in charge of Homicide.
