Badshot Lea F.C. is a football club based in Badshot Lea, near Farnham, Surrey, England. Since 2008–09 they have competed in the Combined Counties League Premier Division. The club's youth team competes in the North East Hants Youth League. The club is affiliated to the Surrey County Football Association.[1]
History
They were established in 1904 and started playing in the local junior leagues, eventually progressing to the Surrey Intermediate League Western in 1978 from the Aldershot league.[1] The club progressed through the intermediate leagues and gained promotion to the Surrey County Premier league at the end of the 1985–86 season, as champions of the Surrey Intermediate League.[2] The club lasted just the one season in the Premier league, finishing second from bottom and being relegated back to the Surrey intermediate league.[3]
In the 2003–04 season the club left the Surrey intermediate league entered the Hellenic Football League.[4] In the 2006–07 season they finished in third place in the Hellenic Football League Division One East, and were promoted to the Hellenic League Premier Division. They transferred to the Combined Counties League Premier Division at the end of the 2007–08 season, after gaining the agreement of both leagues, when they swapped places with Reading Town.[5]
The following season saw the club then make their debut in a national competition when they entered the FA Vase for the first time, making it to the first round before losing to Molesey 2–1 at Walton Road Stadium.[4] The 2009–10 season then saw the club make their debut in the FA Cup making it to the second qualifying round before being thumped 10–0 by Ashford Town at the Robert Parker Stadium.[6]
