Bajali College (Assamese: বজালী মহাবিদ্যালয় ) is a self-financed institute affiliated to Gauhati University. It offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce and also offers Master of Science courses.

History

Bajali College was established at Pathsala as a co-educational institution on 16th Aug, 1955. Presently, Bajali is the name of a civil sub-division bearing semi- urban feature with its headquarters at Pathsala under Barpeta district of Assam. The area has age old reputation for its cultural and socioeconomic factors.Its farmer populace was deprived of higher education till then and there was no institution of higher learning in the entire Bajali area. Youths aspiring for higher education, were to go out of the area. Most of them were from agro based families who were economically handicapped. So a group of enterprising social workers of Bajali under the dynamic leadership of Late Kameswar Das, a gold medalist in M.Sc (Mathematics) from Calcutta university, the first chairman of Assam Public Service Commission and an illustrious son of Bajali, founded Bajali College.

Mission of the College

Bajali college was established at Pathsala on 16 August 1955 with a view to removing the educational backwardness, providing accessibility of women to higher education, imparting science education leading to inculcation of scientific temperament among the rural mass and giving a standing to social needs and relevant assistance to the people of Bajali and its adjoining area. Its farmer populace was deprived of higher education until then and there was no institution of higher learning in the entire Bajali area. Youths aspiring for higher education, were to go out of the area. Most of them were from agro based families who were economically handicapped.
