Balabhadrapatruni Ramani is a Telugu novelist, story writer and movie story-screenplay writer. She started her career with small stories and shone into limelight with novels. Many of her novels were made into films in Tollywood (Telugu cinema) and she continues to provide story ideas and screenplay support for movies. Most of her novels are about human relations and situational emotions.
Early life and Education
Ramani Balabhadrapatruni was born Ramani Ankaraju on 26 January 1964 in Hyderabad, India. Her parents are Ankaraju Anand Bhushan Rao and Ankaraju Sathyavathi Devi. She got her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985 from Kasturba Gandhi College in Secunderabad.
Her inspirations were her grandparents Surampudi Srihari Rao and Ramanama who were freedom fighters. Inspired by the stories her grandmother used to recite of their time serving the nation, she decided to pen down the total journey as narrated for future generations of the family to know. This story titled “LEADER” was published by EMSCO in year 1995. Ramani considers Yandamuri Veerendranath as her guru.
Career
Ramani’s entry into literature started in 1993 with poetry and a short story “Mullabata” which was published in Vipula, a monthly magazine of Eenadu. Her first novel “Thrupthi” was published in Chatura, another monthly magazine of Eenadu.
She has written 3 plays for the All India Radio. She has also written dialogues for TV shows- Tulasi Dalam which aired on Gemini, Antharmukham on Citi Cable and Kalakanidi which aired on ZEE Telugu. She has written close to 150 short stories which have been published in different weekly and monthly Telugu magazines. Her publications include Ramani Kadhalu (33 Short stories compiled) and Kalamdatani kaburlu. Two novels and one story written by her have been translated into Kannada.

- Leader – Novel about her grandfather, that brought her into the galaxy of writers. The novel is based on the inspiring life of Ramani's maternal grandfather who waged a fiery freedom struggle against the British in the Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. The novel went on to win several hearts and laid a fresh focus not only on the freedom fighters whose names have been steadily vanishing in the oblivion, but also paid a tribute to the sacrificial nature of the wife (the author's grandmother) of the freedom fighter

Ramani made her entry into Tollywood in 1999 by writing story lines for Anaganaga O Ammayi followed by Repalle Lo Radha (2001), Evare Atagadu (2003), Madhumasam (2007), Rainbow (2008) and Andari Bandhuvaya (2010). She has also worked as the co-author for Boss (2006). Pattudhala (2013)[4]

She has served as the Guest of Honor for the 6th International Telugu Literary Symposium held in Fremont, CA, USA., North America Telugu Association (NATA) in Dallas, Texas, USA., Vanguri Foundation in Houston, Texas, USA. and a guest in Literature Section for ATA. New Jersey. USA.
Ms. Ramani was elected as a Censor Board Member for South Indian Cinema in 2012.
Personal life
Ramani Balabhadrapatruni is married to Prabhakar, a Manager working for Mahindra & Mahindra. She has two sons, Ashwin Kumar and Krishna Kanth. She and her family live in Neredmet, Hyderabad.
