Bamta lies in the south-western ranges of the Himalayas at 31°1′9″N 77°37′13″E / 31.01917°N 77.62028°E. It has an average altitude of 2,144 metres (7,037 ft) above mean sea level. The place is surrounded by the forests of chir pine and gigantic deodars. The valley is also famous for its apple orchards. Elevation ranges from 2144 to 3100meters from the sea level.

Bamta is a medium size village located in Chaupal of Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh with total 89 families residing.
