Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club is an Emirati Sports Club, based in Al Shamkha, in the Baniyas area of Abu Dhabi. They play in the UAE Pro League.[1]

About

Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club is an Emirati Sports Club comprising Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Handball and some individual games namely: Table Tennis, Fencing, Jiu-Jitsu, Athletics, and Swimming. Chaired by H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Baniyas Sport and Cultural Club was established and publicized upon a decision made by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in 1981. The club is located in Al Shamkha, in the Baniyas area of Abu Dhabi. The mission of the club is to raise the motivations of the youngsters and direct them to sports and cultural activities, keep the young people away from all that is harmful, and for them to become useful members of their community and represent their country and their club honorably. The vision of the founders of Baniyas Sport and Cultural club emphasizes that the Club shall become a symbol of superiority and excellence in various sports, cultural and social activities, and to strengthen the development of sports in accordance with the vision and perception planned by the wise leadership.

History

The team started working rightfully by building a base of juniors and youngsters who previously played in the young and junior competitions organized by the Football Association, until they become strong and more ready to participate in the second division, at that time. After arduous journey, the team was able to fulfill its dream to ascend, for the first time, to the first division in the 1987-1988 season. The team continued to achieve successes, and in the fifth season of his ascension in 1991-1992, it succeeded to win the President's Cup, as the biggest achievement in the club’s history so far. Since the club’s rise to Etisalat Pro League at the beginning of the sports season of 2009-2010, after winning the first division league, it has provided a distinct level in that season which qualified it to occupy the fourth place. The team continued its successful journey in the professional league, played in the 2010-2011 season better than the level of the previous season and competed vigorously to win the league title and occupied the second place in the competition. In the season 2012-2013, the team participated for the first time in GCC Gulf Cup and won the title in Al Shamkha Stadium to record Baniyas Club name in the championship records among the great teams in the Gulf when it scored two clean goals against the Qatari team Al Khor. After H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan took office of the presidency of the Club, the club started to put clear scientific strategies to move all sport teams and cultural and social activities of the club to the level of professionalism and excellence and to be one of the most important supporters of the Community in the United Arab Emirates.

Board of Directors of Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club is the administrative Supreme Council in the organizational structure of the club, including the Football Company and Sports Company in addition to Baniyas Investment Company. The Board of Directors of the club is headed by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, H.E. Mubarak Awad bin Mehairoom as a vice chairman. and the membership of: H.E. Saeed Suhail Al Ameri, H.E. Mohammed Suhail Al Kathiri, Mr. Mohammed Ghanem Al Mansouri, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Majed Al-Ali, and Mr. Ahmed Salem Al Rashidi.

Baniyas Football Company

Baniyas Football Club Company is one of the companies operating under the umbrella of Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club and is specialized in the development of football, paying attention to the emerging talents and caring for young people interested in this sport. In addition, the company is constantly working to ensure sustainable development for all different football teams of different age groups up to the First Team. It also runs Baniyas Football Academy through which it is seeking to create a sustainable strong base of talents that will support the main teams with the talents they need. The company's headquarter is located in the new Baniyas Club Stadium in Al Shamkha and has different administrative departments, including executive, financial, advertising, marketing, administrative, legal, media department and human resources departments. The Board of Directors of the football company is headed by Mubarak Awad bin Mehairoom, and the members; Mr. Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Sayari, Mr. Mosallam Suhail Al Kathiri, and Mr. Saleh Ismail Al Hammadi.
