Barbara Vanderlinden
Barbara Vanderlinden is an art critic, editor and curator. Involved throughout the 1990s with commissioned works intimately linked to Roomade and his Laboratorium (art exhibition) exposure.[1] A series of projects for different websites that contains many artists and exhibitions on innovation and the exploration of art forms and the way in which they are exposed. She served as director of the Brussels Biennial[2] and organised more than 50 exhobitions as wells as various international biennales including the Taipei Biennial: Do You Believe in Reality? at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum,[3][4] Manifesta 2, biennale européenne d'art contemporain, Generation Z at MoMA PS1 in New York,[5] and "Two Hours Wide, Two Hours Long 58/98" at Cultural Centre of Belém in Lisbon.
More recently, she has served as professor and director of the center for study and research Exhibition Laboratory of University of the Arts Helsinki (Taideyliopisto) in Finland and has organized Laboratory of Hearing.[6] Previously, she has been a professor and initiator of the International Curatorial Programme (2001)[7] of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation, at Gwangju, South Korea, Associate Professor of curatorial studies for the CCS Bard Master of Arts Program in Curatorial Studies in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, Associate Professor (2016-2017) in curatorial studies and history of exhibitions at the San Francisco Art Institute. Vanderlinden is the author of a reference book in the field of exhibitions and biennials stories in Europe called The Manifesta Decade: Debates on Contemporary Art Exhibitions and Biennials in Post-Wall Europe [The Manifesta Decade: Debates on exhibitions biennials and contemporary art in Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall] (MIT Press, 2005).
