Barbara Weathers (born December 7, 1963) is an American R&B/soul singer, and former lead singer of R&B vocal group, Atlantic Starr.[1] After leaving her first band, Covacus (Greensboro, North Carolina-based band of the 1980s), Weathers replaced Sharon Bryant, who left the group for a solo career in 1984. Weathers sang on two of Atlantic Starr's biggest hits, "Always" and "Secret Lovers". Her smooth vocal can also be heard on many of the group's soulful ballads. Weathers left Atlantic Starr in 1987 to pursue a solo career.
On leaving Atlantic Starr, Weathers released a self-titled solo album on Reprise Records with help from the singer-songwriter/record producer of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Maurice White, among other well established musicians. The album consisted mainly of dance music numbers, but was led off by the midtempo singles "The Master Key" and "Our Love Will Last Forever." Weathers utilized her ability to sing in the whistle register on the album's operatic closing song "Our Love Runs Deep."
In 1995 Weathers released a near perfect album (according to Allmusic), Seeing for the Very First Time. She has also released a third album named Satisfaction Guaranteed which was released in October 2011.
