C. Barry Carter

C. Barry Carter was the head of Chemical, Materials & Biomolecular Engineering in the School of Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He was previously a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota and Cornell University. He is an author of nearly 500 peer-reviewed publications and two textbooks, Ceramic Materials: Science and Engineering[1] with M. Grant Norton and Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Textbook for Materials Science[2] with David Williams.

He is a fellow of the Materials Research Society, the Microscopy Society of America and the American Ceramic Society. In 2010 he was elected to the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.[3] He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Materials Science and formerly served in the same role for the Microscopy and Microanalysis.
