Basaveshwara Engineering College (Autonomous) (also known as BEC) is a private co-educational engineering college in Bagalkot, Karnataka, India. It was established in 1963 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. It was granted academic autonomy in August 2007..[1]

History

BEC was established by the Basaveshwar Veerashiva Vidyavardak Sangh (BVVS). It offers 10 undergraduate programs and six postgraduate programs besides research programs in three disciplines. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and its undergraduate programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Campus

The campus is on an elevated stretch of land of over 100 hectares on the outskirts of the city at Vidyagiri adjoining new Bagalkote town i.e., Navanagar on BelgaumRaichur State Highway (SH).

Administration

The Governing Council of BEC administers the functioning of the college. It comprises the chairman of B.V.V. Sangha as the chairman of the Council and other members include nominees from B.V.V. Sangha, AICTE, DTE and VTU. The principal is the ex-officio secretary.
