Bator Sambuev (Russian: Батор Самбуев) is Russian-Canadian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster.
Biography
Sambuev was born on November 25, 1980 in Russia and by 2011 as a Grandmaster won the Canadian Chess Championship with Eric Hansen. The same year he played against Leonid Gerzhoy at the Ontario Open with whom he tied the 1st-2nd game. In 2013 he was qualified for the World Cup where he beat Alexander Morozevich, while playing for Canada in the first round. A year before it, he was a winner of another Canadian Championship at the Chess Olympiad with 8.5 out of 9 rank.[1]
In 2009 he tied another game, this time playing against Joshua Friedel at the PWC Toronto Open and did it again next year with Merab Gagunashvili and Anton Kovalyov at the Quebec Invitational. The same year he also won Ontario and Eastern Ontario Opens with 4.5 out of 5 and 5 of 6 victories. He had the same score at the Hart House's Winter Holiday Open tournament got into 5 out of 5 in 2011s Winter Open in Switzerland where he beat Nikolay Noritsyn, Artem Samsonkin and Wesley So as well. He won another 5 out of 5 at the Riedstra Memorial and beat many other players in various Ontario competitions. During the Isthmia Open in Greece he tied a game there as well in 2013.[1]
