Batu Secret Zoo is a zoo in Batu, a mountain resort city near Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The zoo opened in June 2010 and includes an animal museum - Museum Satwa; and a tree-style hotel named the Pohon Inn. The complex is spread over 12 hectares (30 acres).

History

An owner of seven attractions in East Java wanted to add a new attraction with an animal theme. They then planned to create an amusement park called Batu Secret Zoo. The zoo was filled with animals, and the Pohon Inn and Museum Satwa were created. In 2010, the Jawa Timur Park 2 was opened by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Areas and attractions

The zoo features a wide range of animals throughout a number of areas.

Savannah

Savannah is a glass-walled tunnel where visitors can view a number of the larger African animals, such as the giant sable antelope, scimitar-horned oryx, zebra and other hoofed animals. It equipped by an interactive LCD, with the information and games about the animals. Near the front gate, there is a board, filled with animals' eyes who must flip the picture to know the animals.

African Village

African Village contains the smaller African animals; such as the meerkats, guinea pigs etc. In addition, this contains the elephant enclosure including the Sumatran elephant. With a cafe near the elephant's encounter, all people can have lunch in there.

Eagles

Eagles is the hawk, eagle and bird of prey enclosure.

Fantasy Land

Fantasy Land is the children's and general rest area. The area includes a cafeteria, a children's pool and other amenities. This area also includes the gorilla enclosure.

River Adventure

The orangutan enclosure is based on an island accessible by river boat.

Feeding Birds

Feeding Birds is an area where guests may feed a wide variety of birds in an open enclosure.

Mancing Harimau

Mancing Harimau is a tiger feeding enclose where guests can feed the tigers while standing on top of an acrylic glass platform.
