Beach Walking
Beach Walking is a sport that is based on walk on the sand of the beach. Beach Walking can be developed on compact sand or non-compact sand. It is an important variant of Beach Run.
History
The origin of Beach Walking is in the Beach Run competitions of the 1960s Easter Beach Run at Daytona (Florida), Annual Seaside Beach Run in the city of Seaside (Oregon), etc.[1]
Multiday
There are Beach Walking competitions on non-compact sand. And there are world records of Beach Walking on non-compact sand in Multiday distances.[2]
Technique
Beach Walking has a specific technique of walk.[3]
- The walker walks with alternating movement of feet and arms.
- The walker bends the front arm and extends the other arm behind the torso.
- One foot of the walker must be in permanent contact with the sand.
