Beas Pind (sometimes Bias Pind) is a village in Adampur Mandal in Jalandhar district in the north-western Indian state of Punjab, India. It is the largest village in the Doaba region.
History
Beas Pind was founded in the late 19th or early 20th century in the Jalandhar district of north-central Punjab. The River Beas used to flow close to Beas Pind but changed its course. The village is home to a variety of cultures and religions. Although the majority of the village is Punjabi, there are a number of workers settled from the neighbouring states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, creating a multicultural community.
Geography
Beas Pind is situated on the Pathankot road, one of the many communities in Adampur Mandal. Beas Pind is approximately 14 kilometres from Jalandhar-West, and 134 kilometres from the state capital, Chandigarh. Nearby villages include Jagrawan (1.8 km), Dolike Sunderpur (2.2 km), Sanghwal (2.6 km), Duhre (3.2 km), and Sikanderpur (4.1 km). Nearby towns include Adampur (6 km) and Bhogpur (12.3 km).
Religion
An array of faiths can be found in the Doabi village. Although Beas Pind is a predominantly Sikh and Hindu community, there are also Muslim and Christian minorities.
Temples
A Gurudwara Sahib has been built in Beas Pind in honour of Baba Bhana Ji. There are two Mandir Vadda baba beas and chota baba beas. There is a shiv temple inside the vadda baba beas. Every evening of Sangrand people come there to pray.
Beas Pind is also the place of forefathers i.e Jathere of Gotra Madahar. The Madahars come from all over the world and assemble here on next day of Makar Sankranti or 'Sangrand' and worship and offer holy prayers to their forefathers here. The Chhinjh Mela (Wrestling Competition) is held at this religious place of Jathere of Madhar Gotra. People from far away countries like U.K., USA, Canada, European Countries, Gulf countries, Australia, New Zealand and also from all over India especially the villages of Punjab like Nangal Karar Khan, Rurka Kalan where the large poupulation of Madahars live, come on this day to offer prayers to their forefathers.
Beas Pind is noted for its Chinj Mela (Wrestling Competition). There is one religious place Baba Mal Ji and Baba Lakh Data Darwar, where every year in January Chinj Mela is organized. People from all over the world come here to see the mela and to get the Baba Ji's blessings. In this mela wreslers from all over India come here to participate in wrestling (kushti). A gurdwara dedicated to Shri Guru Ravidass Ji is also situated in Patti Udhopur.
