The Federation of Irish Beekeepers' Associations is the association of beekeeping associations in Ireland. It is notable for its monthly (in the off-season) publication, An Beachaire, and its unique summer course held at Gormanston, Co. Meath in Gormanston College. There are 45 local member associations in the Federation.
Publications
An Beachaire,[1] subtitled The Irish Beekeeper, is published by Federation of Irish Beekeepers' Associations of which it is the official organ. The Irish word for bee is "beach", with "an beachaire"meaning "the beekeeper". An Beachaire was established in 1881 and reconstituted in 1943. For 2009, the volume no. is 64. The combined July and August edition is numbered No. 7/8 to maintain the correspondence with the month number.
