Albert Victor "Ben" Butler (died 13 May 1916, age 29[1]) was a professional footballer for Reading and Queens Park Rangers.[1]

He served in World War I for the 17th (Service) Battalion Middlesex Regiment, also known as the First Footballers' Battalion.[1] On 3 May 1916 his right leg was badly wounded by shelling at Cite Calonne. He died as a result, ten days later, leaving a widow, Kate.[1]

Butler's will, in which he leaves everything to Kate, survives and is in the archives of Her Majesty's Court and Tribunal Service.[1]
