Berkhout is a town in the northwest Netherlands. It is in the municipality of Koggenland, North Holland, about 5 km (3 mi) west of Hoorn.
In 2001, Berkhout had 956 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.18 km2 (0.069 sq mi), and contained 393 residences.[1] The statistical area "Berkhout", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1,780.[2]
