Beth Comstock is the vice chair of Business Innovations at General Electric[1] and oversaw the founding of Hulu. She operates GE Business Innovations, which includes GE Lighting, Current, GE Ventures & Licensing and GE sales, marketing and communications.[2]
Personal life
Comstock graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She began her career doing local television production in Virginia.[3]
Career
Since 2008, Comstock served as GE’s chief marketing and commercial officer. From 2006, she was President of Integrated Media at NBC Universal overseeing ad sales, marketing and research, and led the company’s digital efforts, including early development of hulu.com, Peacock Equity, and acquiring ivillage.com. [4] In 2003 she was named GE's first chief marketing officer in more than 20 years and created ecomagination as an initiative to drive positive environmental impact from GE and its customers. [5] Previously, she held roles at GE, NBC, CBS and Turner Broadcasting.[6]
Comstock is a member Nike, Inc’s Board of Directors and Trustee president of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. [7]
