The Bhapkar are a sub-clan of the Bhoite clan of Marathas in India. Their capital is at Loni Bhapkar (Baramati).
Notables
- Sardar Gorakhji (Gorkhoji ) Bhapkar (well-established around 1735 ),[1][2] was honest Watandar of Peshwa.
- Sardar Sonajirao Bhapkar, (Gorakhji's successor), took active part in the Battle of Panipat and escaped from that disaster.later, Sardar Durgojirao Bhapkar,[3] his brother Kadoji Bhapkar [4] and Sardar Shahajirao Bhapkar,[5] who were faithfuls of Peshwa and played important part in Anglo-Maratha Wars and other battles. Sardar Dattajirao Shinde, Gwalior Chief, was married to the Kashibaisaheb Bhapkar,they had a son but he died after few days from his Birth.[6] These are Originally Bhoites, however some Bhapkars are from Clan of Rathod and Chavan.
