Big Think is an Internet forum that features interviews, multimedia presentations, and roundtable discussions with speakers from a range of fields.[1] [2] The concept for Big Think, which has been described as a YouTube for ideas, was first developed by Victoria Brown (Co-Founder and CEO) and Peter Hopkins (Co-Founder and President).[3] The pair met while working together at PBS on the Charlie Rose show in 2006.[1] Among the initial investors in the project were Peter Thiel of PayPal, Tom Scott of Nantucket Nectars, television producer Gary David Goldberg, lead investor and venture capitalist David Frankel, and former Harvard University President Lawrence Summers.[1][4][5] As of July 2010, the site featured interviews with 3000 people.
