Bisera Turković

Bisera Turković (born 8 December 1954) is a Bosnian diplomat and politician. She was the first ambassador appointed in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and she was the Bosnian ambassador to the United States, Mexico and Brazil (2005 to 2008). She holds a degree in Law and a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. She did her post graduate studies in Criminology and holds a PhD in International Relations.

Career

Her first assignments as ambassador were to Croatia (1993-1994), Hungary (1994-1996), and at Bosnia and Herzegovina's Permanent Mission to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna (1996 to 2000) as well as to Bosnia and Herzegovina's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna (2004 to 2005). Currently she is the Bosnian ambassador to Belgium (Brussels). From 2000 to 2001, Turković worked as the Minister for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. From 2001 to 2004, she was Executive Director of the Centre for Security Studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
