Black Buccaneer (formerly Smugglers Galleon) is a swinging pirate ship at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in southwest London, England. It premiered in 1988 in the Pirates' Cove section of the park.[2]

History

Black Buccaneer was originally opened in 1988 as Smugglers Galleon[3] in Pirates' Cove, an area adjacent to Transylvania in Chessington World of Adventures Resort. It was manufactured by Huss Rides.[1]

The ride received a soundtrack in late 2013. The ride and surrounding buildings were refurbished in 2014.

Description

The ride is themed as a pirate ship. Riders sit in 9 rows of 5, before swinging back and forth at heights of up to 60 feet.[1] It is painted black (hence the name), with a height minimum of 1 meter. Anyone under 1.3 meters must be accompanied by an adult.[2]
