Black Diamond Bay is Canadian independent rock band formed in 2006 and based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band consists of Patrick Krief formerly of The Dears on lead vocals, George Donoso III on drums, Roberto Piccioni (Keys) and Alexandre Lapointe (Bass).

History

Black Diamond Bay formed after Patrick Krief recorded his 7 song solo EP (Take it Or Leave) which was released August 2007 by Sunny Lane Records [1](Fontana North). Their debut record "Calm Awaits was mixed by David Schiffman (Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails, Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.) and was mastered by Howie Weinberg in NY (Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse etc.) The band's sound is described as "Rock with a genuine sense of space and dynamic; suggestions of Floyd, Radiohead and even McCartney".[2]

One possible inspiration for the band's name is Bob Dylan's epic song "Black Diamond Bay", which can be found on his 1976 album Desire.
