History

Founded in 2012 and officially launched in April 2014,[2] Bluescape™ is located in San Carlos, California and is a fully owned subsidiary of Haworth.

The Bluescape concept was born in 2006 when designers at Haworth performed a strategic review of their global seating portfolio. Images of each seating product were pinned to a wall, enabling the team to view the portfolio in its entirety for the first time.

The designers were able to quickly identify patterns and opportunities, but reorganizing the cards proved extremely difficult. Haworth’s team needed a simpler way to see and interact with large amounts of information.

In 2010, Haworth met with Obscura Digital, an award-winning creative technology studio and designer of large-scale interactive displays. Haworth immediately knew it had found the right partner—Obscura’s user experience and technology expertise perfectly complemented Haworth’s focus on workplace effectiveness. Together, the companies developed the vision for Bluescape, and turned the vision into an entirely new way to work.

In 2015, Haworth purchased Obscura Digital's shares in the company and become the sole owner of Bluescape.
