Bob Bekian is an American entrepreneur and producer, and owner of SPOTBURNER, Loyal Studios, REALHD.TV, GreenscreenLA.com, and Hollywood Trending. Bekian developed technically integrated high definition production facilities that specialize in creating digital content for broadcast, feature films, commercials, music videos, and web-based content. Bekian also developed a proprietary process that combines producing premium branded content with digital distribution using a programmatic technology to build brand Recognition for clients ranging from Coca Cola to Miramax Films.

Biography

Robert "Bob" Bekian[1] was born in Cleveland, Ohio,[2] and grew up the Mar Vista suburb of Los Angeles. His mother, Cathy, was born in Pennsylvania. Bekian’s father, "Shane," was a mechanical engineer who founded the company ‘Westaire Manufacturing’ in Los Angeles. Bekian’s mother has a master's degree from the University of San Francisco, and is currently retired as an executive at the Angeles Girls Scouts. Bekian attended Venice High School and graduated in 1980. He then attended California State University Northridge where he graduated in 1986 with a B.A degree in Communications, and a minor in Business Marketing. While at CSUN, Bekian was President of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity.[3]

Family

In 1990, Bekian married Sonia Wendt, a credentialed bi-lingual L.A. Unified teacher. She is currently a Real Estate developer, broker, as well as a style consultant to the commercial production and television industry. Their first son, Shane, was born in 1995, and is currently in the business/ pre-law program at the University of Arizona. Their second son, Bryce, was born in 2000, and is ranked regional junior golfer. The family lives in Thousand Oaks, California, in a house they designed and built in 2003.

Early career

From 1975-78, Bekian was a professional skateboarder, riding with the Z-Boys of Dogtown.[4] He concluded his skateboarding career with a European tour in 1978 where he appeared on British and French Television demonstrating vertical ramp and freestyle skateboarding. He was sponsored by Pepsi and Z-flex Skateboards.

Bekian then worked as a kitchen manager for five years at the Famous Enterprise Fish Company[5] in order to pay his way through college. After college, Bekian joined the publicly traded corporate image companies Aramark and Cintas as district manager and sales manager where he learned the science of sales and management first-hand. In 1998, Bekian was recruited as Vice President of Comtel Pro Media,[6] which is the largest Sony media distributor in the world. Bekian applied his sales and marketing experience to Comtel and grew the company from $8 million in revenue to $30 million in five years. Bekian then purchased the company with Michael Krasny, the founder of Computer Discount Warehouse, and Jonathan Reinsdorf, owner of the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox. Bekian and his partners then sold Comtel to Edgewise Media in 2008. Bekian remains on the advisory board of Edgewise Media, and continues a strategic board-level business relationship with Edgewise and Comtel Pro Media.

RVB Media Group

After he sold Comtel Pro Media, Bekian then began to build his media holdings with his first venture, Pro HD Rentals,[7] Inc, providing high definition cameras and support to his contacts established in the entertainment industry. The company has an inventory of 75 HD camera systems, and technical support providing services to the major networks and film companies. As digital production and editing began to transform the way production was being done, Bekian built his first digital green screen sound stage in Burbank, California, and founded Loyal Studios. The integration of technical support, equipment, and facilities was a unique strategy that led to the construction of 2 additional studios in Santa Monica, and Burbank. Clients that frequent the studios include Heidi Klum, Edward James Olmos, Billy Crystal, Snoop Dogg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ray J, David Beckham, Don Cheadle, Paris Hilton, Brett Ratner, Gerard Butler, Olivia Wilde, and the L.A. Lakers.

In 2010, Bekian acquired GreenscreenLA.com[8] in order to offer a venue specifically for his green screen clients. The acquisition proved successful, and contributes to Bekian receiving over 500,000 web impressions per month. Also in 2010, Bekian launched his own site, Bobbekian.com,[9] which links his other media companies together and provides a portal for clients to view his varied services.

In 2011, Bekian launched REALHD.TV,[10] which is a fully functional web streaming site offering High Definition original content as well as movie trailers, trend stories, and unsigned new content pitches and presentations. The site offers a unique viewing screen which is unobstructed by pre-roll or lower third advertising. Bekian is currently building his web optimization business through use of video, social media marketing, and his other media assets.

Bekian's company, Pro HD Rentals, Inc., was acquired by the Toomey Media Group in August, 2013, who specializes in growing tech companies. Bekian has been investing in new technology in his studios, and developing a production slate for television and the web.

Spotburner.com

Spotburner.com[11] was started in 2014, by Bekian as a digital production and marketing company. The first project produced is the launch of the Luxury Brands channel through the company, Compralux. Bekian established Spotburner to pull media production (crews, equipment, editing) to distribution (radio, television, print) into one place. Bekian oversaw production of commercials in 2015 such as the Auto Gallery Lamborghini, a Coca Cola spot in Japan, RC toys, Dodge, and the Community Marketplace in Moorpark, CA.[12] Spotburner has digital production and post production technology with a targeted digital distribution platform. The Company has partnered with several programmatic digital distribution companies to strategically serve up digital advertising primarily to mobile devices.

Bekian is currently working with such notable brands as Marvel, and Amgen, and is in contention for multiple Agency of Record agreements as well as additional strategic partners in the digital space.
