BoostedBoards
BoostedBoards or Booosted Boards are a producer of powered skateboards.[1] Located in Mountain View, California, Boosted Boards was funded by a $467 thousand Kickstarter campaign,[2] and was a Y-combinator start-up in summer 2012. The company was co-founded by chief executive Sanjay Dastoor, who delivered a TED talk on the subject in 2013.[3]
Reception
The initial 2 kW Boosted Board was criticised mainly for its price, at $2,000 it was seen as unaffordable.
In late 2014 the original board was re-branded, with new software, as the Dual+, selling for $1,499 with a 1500 W board, the Dual, priced at $1,299 - a free software upgrade was offered to original board owners, subject to carriage costs. The Single, announced at the same time, was released later at $1,000, with 1 kW power, slower, but lighter and with a greater range.
The second-generation boards have received a mostly positive reviews from engadget,[4] Tech Crunch,[5] Gizmondo[6] and the specialist Electric Ride Review.[7]
