Bouloussou Soubramania Sastroulou (Telugu: బులుసు సుబ్రహ్మణ్య శాస్త్రులు Bulusu Subrahmaṇya Śāstrulu; 1866–1941) was Diwan, Conseiller local and Judge Advocate during French colonial rule in Yanam in the early 20th century.
Birth
Soubramania Sastroulou was born in Yanam in 1866 and was raised by his grandmother Veerubhotla Mahalakshmamma (whose native is Nimmaluru near Vijayawada). He was born to Bouloussou Jagannadhasastroullou (జగన్నాథశాస్త్రులు Jagannāthaśāstrulu) through his second wife, Vincatanarassamma (వెంకటనరసమ్మ Věṃkaţanarasamma). Later, he grew up as a prominent personality in Yanam during French reign in the early 20th century.
Political career
Sastroulou was one of Bezawada Bapa Naidou's four councillors in the "Conseil Local de Yanaon" between 1928 and 1931 and later on under Kamichetty Venugopala Rao Naidou from 1931–1934. He was very prominent personality and loyal follower of Bapa Naidou. Monsieur Diwan Bouloussou S Sastroulou had been one of the Judge Advocate (Assesseur) for Criminal court of Yanaon and even he worked as Diwan for Manyam Zamindar before being elected as Councillor . He was also been elected to "Conseil Local de Yanaon". Apart from M.Puniamourtoula, he is the only famous politician from élite Brahmin caste, which is a minority in Yanam that has Kapu majority.
He was one of the very rare genuine and humble politicians of his time. His fame was so great that every Governor General of Pondichéry who came to Yanam, used to visit his house. He is well known for his elegant fluency in French language. He was provided with royal escort and honours throughout his life.
Family
His wife Bouloussou Souriaprécassom (Telugu: బులుసు సూర్యప్రకాశం) was the sister of former minister of Madras and Andhra Pradesh, Kala Venkata Rao. He had three sons namely, Bulusu Jagannatha Sastry, Bulusu Lakshminarayana Murthy and Bulusu Satyanarayana Murthy. His Co-brother-in-Law was Sripada Krishnamurty Sastry, the first poet laureate of Andhra Pradesh.
His elder son Bulusu Jagannatha Sastry, very close friend of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was one of the most educated (passed out from Jadavpur University) and highly qualified persons who lived in Yanam at that time. However he was completely out of political affairs in Yanam, thereby putting an end to the family of the Bouloussou's influence in Yanam politics.
Death
Diwan Bouloussou Soubramania Sastroulou died at his ancestral house at Yanaon, situated in ruelle de Zalidinquy (Jaladanki street), Yanaon on 13 September 1941.
