Box and Hat Players

Box n' Hat Players is an education organization based in Spokane, Washington, USA, involved in live theatre.

Box n' Hat had beginnings as an acting course led by Jean Hardie and C.C. Cayer, and evolved as the same children came back for more. It started officially in 1985, as "Performance Troupe" or "P-troupe", and was renamed "Box n' Hat" after the two main props of their shows. It consisted of young people ages 10-18 who had not yet graduated from high school, and focused mainly on musical theater. It was based at the Spokane Civic Theatre and was led by Jean Hardie from 1985 to 2005. The 2005–06 season was led by Katie-Sarah Phillips, after which Andrew Ware Lewis took over leadership until the troupe's disbandment in 2008. Dustin L Sorrell became the troupe's executive artistic director in 2013 when it was reorganized as its own 501(c)(3) organization.

Box n' Hat Players perform throughout the Spokane and its surrounding areas at Rotary clubs, luncheons, tours of houses and other events. Every fall, the troupers tour local public library branches to promote reading. Other annual events are a Christmas show, and a year end "Senior Showcase".

Jean Hardie founded and directed the group from its inception to the 2004–05 season. Gary Laing was the troupe's sole musical director.

Box n' Hat draws its repertoire from the musical theatre canon including such songs as "That's Entertainment", "Together" (also known as "Together (Wherever We Go)"), "Music! Music! Music!", and "Steam Heat".

In 2013, Dustin L Sorrell re-founded the group, incorporating it as its own organization. No longer a program of Spokane Civic Theatre, Box n' Hat Players presented their own season as an independent non-profit organization in 2013–14
