Brampton College is a co-educational Sixth Form College for students aged between 15 and 19 years, specialising in A levels. Founded in 1989 in Golders Green, it has been located in a period building in Hendon since 1998. In 2012, the college had 263 students. The cirriculum encompasses GCSE and intensive one-year A levels as well as traditional A level courses. The college has been inspected by Ofsted in 2009 and judged to be in the category, "Outstanding".[1] It was also inspected in 2012 by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, who described it as "excellent".[2]
History
Established on Accommodation Road in Golders Green, North London in 1989 as a Sixth Form College, the college moved to its current location in Lodge Road, Hendon in October 1998.[3] The college was founded by Principal Bernard Canetti.[4] There are two faculties: Science, Mathematics and Computing, of which the head is Vice Principal, Joy Mason[5] , and Arts and Humanities, of which the head is Vice Principal Mike Wheeldon.[6]
Campus
The college is based in a period building on Lodge Road, Hendon, It comprises 32 classrooms, including three science laboratories, and a library, study hall, art studio and offices. The college also uses the indoor and outdoor sports facilities of a nearby school and sports centre.[2]
Curriculum
Brampton College offers the following subjects at A Level – Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, Art, Photography, English, Religious Studies, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Latin, Classical Civilisation, Economics, Business Studies, Psychology, Government & Politics, Sociology, Law and Geography.They also have intensive one-year A Level courses as well as A Level retakes. A particular characteristic of the curriculum is flexibility: students are allowed to take a mixture of one-year, two-year and GCSE courses.[1]
Results from the Department of Education results for Brampton College indicate the percentage of students receiving 3 A Levels at grades AAB or higher (in 2 subjects) was 28%, much higher than the England average of 15%.[7][8]
Awards and recognition
In the School and College Performance Tables published by The Department for Education in January 2013, Brampton College has an Average Points Score per Examination Entry of 248.4 which is well above the National Average of 215.6[7] and the Independent Schools Average of 242.2.
The Department of Education figures for 2013 indicate that the percentage of students at the college receiving 3 A Levels at grades AAB or higher was 28%. The average for England is 15%.[7][8]

Bernard Canetti, Principal - Educated at the London School of Economics and the University of York, obtaining a B.A (Hons) in Mathematics & Education followed by an M.Sc at Imperial College London.[4]
Mike Wheeldon, Vice Principal, Arts & Social Sciences - Graduated University of Warwick in English and Latin Literature and M.A. (Classics) of King's College London.[6]
Joy Mason, Vice Principal, Science & Mathematics - Graduated from the University of Sussex with a B.Sc.(Hons) in Biochemistry and studied for P.G.C.E at Chelsea College, London.[5]
