Bravofly Rumbo Group is a Swiss-based provider in the online travel industry, owner of a number of brands including Bravofly, Rumbo, Volagratis and Jetcost. As an Online travel agency (OTA), the Group provides consumers with desktop and mobile web platforms that allow them to search for, compare and book flights, vacation packages and cruises, hotel accommodations, car rentals and other travel products and services.

Bravofly Rumbo Group conducts its business through its two major hubs in Chiasso (Switzerland), where it has its operational headquarters, and in Madrid (Spain), and operates websites localized for over 35 countries throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and Latin America (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, Ukraine, USA, Vietnam).

History

The Bravofly Rumbo Group was founded in 2006, but traces its roots back to 2004, when Fabio Cannavale[2] and Marco Corradino launched Volagratis, a search engine for low cost flights in the Italian market. In 2006, the headquarters were moved to Chiasso and the Group began its international expansion by introducing localized websites in Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom[3] under the Bravofly brand. The acquisition of the Spanish OTA, Rumbo, in November 2012,[4] has helped the Group to significantly increase its size and widen its market reach. At the end of 2013 the Bravofly Rumbo Group announced the acquisition of Jetcost,[5] a leading French travel meta-search site, entering a new market segment.

On 15 April 2014 the Bravofly Rumbo Group debuted on the SIX Swiss Exchange in Zurich.[6] In December 2014 the Bravofly Rumbo Group made a binding offer to acquire Lastminute.com.

On 2 March 2015 Bravofly Rumbo Group has completed the acquisition of lastminute.com from Sabre Corporation, following its binding offer for the business in December 2014. All of lastminute.com's global operations located in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain were acquired in the £75 million deal.[7]
