Brenda Clubine
Brenda Clubine was convicted of first-degree murder in 1983, and sentenced to 16 years to life for the death of her husband, who was abusive and had threatened to kill her. While incarcerated at the California Institution for Women, she founded the group Convicted Women Against Abuse (CWAA). Her story is featured in the domestic violence documentary film Sin by Silence by Olivia Klaus.
