Brendan Bradley (born May 5, 1983) is an American actor, producer, writer, and director, best known for playing the advertising character Guy in television and radio commercials for Staples[1] and noted for his work in over 100 webisodes for Fine Brothers, Comedy Central, Machinima and others.[2]
Education
Bradley graduated from Durham Academy High School in Durham, North Carolina, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Honors in Theater from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.[3] While attending New York University, Bradley spent some time in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Career
Bradley began producing at the age of 16 when his high school canceled the school play in order to complete renovations on the auditorium. His production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap sold out every performance and landed him on the front page of the local newspaper in a full page story about his experience.[4]
While at University, Bradley helped found the RASH Theater Company and served three years as the group's Managing Director. During the company's existence, Bradley helped produce almost a dozen new works and re-imagined classics including the award-winning, critically acclaimed Goonies: The Musical and Out of Orbit: A You-Choose-The-Adventure, Melodrama Show which was later sold to Vital Children's Theater. After graduation, Bradley continued to produce theater in New York. In March 2007, Impetuous Theater Group commissioned Bradley to write his first play for their revival of the Swim Shorts Festival. After a two-week workshop, Bradley's first play, Jettison, opened July 18, 2007 on the rooftop swimming pool of the Midtown Manhattan Holiday Inn, 440 West 57th Street and ran for 10 performances.[5] In February 2009, the play was published in a non-exclusive agreement with Desert Road Publishing and included in the anthology, ONE ACTS OF NOTE 2008.[6] Shortly thereafter, Jettison was produced by Miami's City Theater as part of their Signature Shorts program.
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Bradley began producing online spec commercials, creating spots for Schick Razors,[7] DentaBurst,[8] Post-It Notes,[9] Krazy Glue[10] and Doritos.[11] In 2008, Brendan sold three of his commercials and assisted and consulted on several more before developing his own original, scripted comedy series, Squatters.[12] Squatters caught the attention of National Public Radio's The Story with Dick Gordon and TubeFilter News leading to the 14 episodes launched on the popular website, DailyMotion.com as their first Original Comedy. The first day the show received over 10,000 hits and quickly became DailyMotions most watched original series.
Bradley appeared in Frankenstein, MD as Eli Lavenza, an analogous character to Elizabeth Lavenza, in a modern adaption of the 1823 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. The webseries, produced by PBS Digital Studios and Pemberley Digital, premiered on August 19, 2014 and will conclude October 31, 2014.
He began his role as Guy, the quirky, fast-talking Staples clerk in January 2015.[13]
