Bret Lott

Bret Lott (born October 8, 1958)[1] is an American author of novels and short stories. Lott was born in Los Angeles, California, and went to school in the Northeastern United States. He taught creative writing at the College of Charleston for eighteen years, where he was also writer-in-residence.

He was editor of the Southern Review at LSU until January 2008. He returned to teaching English at the College of Charleston in fall 2007. His latest book is Letters and Life: On Being a Writer, On Being a Christian (2013). He lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
