Brian Plotkin (born August 3, 1984 in Lisle, Illinois) is a retired American soccer player.
Career
College and Amateur
Brian Plotkin graduated from Naperville North High School. Plotkin played club soccer for the Chicago Sockers from the U12 to U19 levels, and played college soccer for Indiana University from 2002 to 2005, featuring in 90 games and accumulating 21 goals and 34 assists. He was named Big 10 Player of the Year in 2005, First Team All Big Ten three consecutive years from 2003–2005, and First Team All-American in 2005. He also played for both Chicago Fire Premier and Indiana Invaders in the Premier Development League.
Professional
Plotkin was selected in the second round 20th overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. On August 5, 2008, he was waived by the team, having played 23 first team and 14 reserve team games in his three seasons with the Fire. Columbus Crew then signed him on a developmental contract later in the month but never played for the team before being waived at the end of the season.[1] During his brief stint with the Crew, he was injured with athletic pubalgia.
In January 2009, Plotkin joined the Carolina RailHawks of the USL First Division.[2]
Coaching
Plotkin is currently an assistant coach at the University of Loyola Chicago men's soccer team.
