Brisbane Adventist College is a Prep to Year 12 independent Christian school located in the Brisbane suburbs of Mansfield (primary school) and Wishart (secondary school). Enrolment is open to families of all faiths. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system.[3][4][5] [6]
Brisbane Adventist College started as a Primary School in 1966. The Primary School was one of the first established in the Mt Gravatt area. A Secondary School was established in 1972 along Wishart Road. Both schools grew steadily over the years and in 1999 it was decided to amalgamate them and the Early Learning Centre into one College. Affectionately known as BAC, the school continues to provide Christian education for students from our wider community. The current student catchment area is wide ranging and extends from the Gold Coast to Brisbane Central.
Spiritual aspects
All students take religion classes each year that they are enrolled. These classes cover topics in biblical history and Christian and denominational doctrines. Instructors in other disciplines also begin each class period with prayer or a short devotional thought, many which encourage student input. Weekly, the entire student body gathers together for an hour-long chapel service. Outside the classrooms there is year-round spiritually oriented programming that relies on student involvement.
