Brookfield Township is one of the twenty-four townships of Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 10,020 people in the township, 9,921 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.[3]
Geography
Located in the Southeastern part of the county, it borders the following townships and city:
- Hartford Township - north
- South Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania - northeast
- Hermitage, Pennsylvania - east
- Hubbard Township - south
- Liberty Township - southwest corner
- Vienna Township - west
- Fowler Township - northwest corner
The village of Yankee Lake is located in northern Brookfield Township, along with three census-designated places:
- Brookfield Center, in the center
- Part of Masury, in the southeast
- West Hill, in the east
Name and history
Statewide, the only other Brookfield Township is located in Noble County.
Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[4] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
Attractions
Brookfield is home to Yankee Run Golf Course,[5] voted one of the top courses in Ohio and given a 4 star rating by Golf Digest in 2001.[6]
