budli.in, also known as Budli (Hindi meaning: Change), is an online recommerce portal based operating in India. It buys and sells open box and/or second-hand gadgets like smartphones, tablets, laptops and iPods. [1][2]
History
The company was founded in the year 2013 in Kolkata and is presently operated from its office based in Bangalore. The founder and CEO of Budli is Rohit Bagaria , a post graduate from UC Berkeley, California. He claims the idea for this company was born when he felt the paucity of a market that offered fair price for used Smartphones and laptops to sellers, and quality refurbished gadgets from a trusted source. [3][4][5]
Business Model
Customers go to website, choose to sell their gadgets and get a quote online based on the age, market price and condition. Once the quote is accepted, the customers are asked to send their items through a courier facility. The company upon inspection of the gadget, pay the customer via online bank transfer or cheque. The gadget is then repaired and refurbished and put up for sale. [6][7] The company also sources products from e-commerce companies, manufacturers, retailers and distributors. The company also claim to work in collaboration with e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal for liquidation of products and refurbishing of goods. [8][9][10][11]
Competitors
Companies like ReGlobe, Greendust, YNew and ValueCart are the other recommerce companies in India which provide similar services. [12]
