The bumblebee hummingbird (Atthis heloisa) is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is predominantly found in Mexico, but has occurred as a vagrant in the United States (Arizona). At 7 to 7.5 cm (2.8 to 3.0 in), it is the smallest bird known to have occurred in North America north of Mexico.[2] At a weight of 2.2 g (0.078 oz), it is one of the smallest birds known to exist in the world.[3] Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
