Burkholderia pickettii is a gram-negative bacterium from the genus of Burkholderia and the family of Burkholderiaceae which occurs in water, soil and in plant samples. Burkholderia pickettii is also a part of the physiological flora in the mouth and the upper respiratory tract from healthy humans.[4] However if an individual has an immunosuppressed therapie it can cause cystic fibrosis.[5][6]
