CIIG-FM
CIIG-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts tourist information programming at 102.3 FM in Gravenhurst, Ontario.
Owned by Instant Information Services, the station received Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approval on June 1, 2009 to operate a new English language tourist information radio station at 101.9 MHz in Gravenhurst.[1]
On February 27, 2012, the station received approval from the CRTC to increase CIIG-FM's effective radiated power from 25 watts to 32 watts (directional antenna), and decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 55 to 30 metres. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. [2]
Since the station's approval in 2009, CIIG-FM has not yet launched as of 2012 and the Commission announced that the implementation date for the station has been extended. Current information from Whatsupmuskoka.com, August 29, 2012 edition, indicates that CIIG, on a frequency of 102.3 FM, "will begin airing a full list of programming after Labour Day (2012)." The station actually moved the launch date up and began broadcasting on August 16, 2012.
