History
Hot Country-CIMR is a temporary radio station licensed by the BCI to provide country and Irish music programming for the North East region. The station was established in 2004, as an all Irish music radio station using the name Irish Music Radio (IMR). Before the station's third temporary licence run in 2006 the name was changed to Country and Irish Music Radio (CIMR) and the station's transmission service area was changed to cover the North East of Ireland. Before the stations 2007 license run, the station again changed its name, this time to Hot Country-CIMR.
The station was founded by Joe Doyle and Chris Adams following the famous raids of 2003 by ComReg. Joe Doyle is known for his involvement in a number of pirate stations in the 1980s and also for his involvement in the early 1990s in the pirate station Radio Dublin. Chris Adams is known to have met Joe Doyle in Radio Dublin. Chris Adams also ran a pirate station called Magic Music Radio in Cabra, north country Dublin.
It is expected that Hot Country-CIMR will apply for a full licence from the BCI later in 2008.
