Chris Mee Safety Engineering, now known as 'CMSE, is an accredited specialist in environmental, safety and energy consultancy and training services. The company is retained by organisations in Ireland and the UK to ensure compliance, minimise risk and upskill management and staff.[1][2]

CMSE was founded in 1996 as a Safety consultancy. The company added training services in 1998. Recruitment services commenced in 1999. Carbon Action was set up in London in 2007. Carbon Action works in carbon emissions and energy.

In 2009, CMSE and Carbon Action were joined in a group structure. In 2014, CMSE set up a partnership with Willis Insurance brokerage. CMSE now supplies risk management to many Willis customers.

CMSE and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) collaborated in early 2009 to allow CMSE to exclusively deliver CSA Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management Training Programmes in Ireland and the UK.[3]

Board Members

Alf Smiddy, Board Chairman: Alf Smiddy is chairman of the Chris Mee Group Board. Alf joined the board in 2012. He is also a member of several governmental boards. Alf is a former head of Beamish & Crawford and of Scottish and Newcastle. Alf has extensive expertise in finance, change management, food and drink and much more.

John McGowan: John is a member of the Chris Mee Group board since 2013. John is a former head of Intel Ireland. He worked in several very senior management positions. John has an extensive professional network. He has extensive knowledge in general industry. He has worked in pharmaceuticals, construction, engineering, chip manufacturing and many more.

Fergal Mee: Fergal is a board member of Chris Mee Group since 2003. He manages Carbon Action. Fergal worked for Novartis Ringaskiddy as environmental manager for over 15 years. He is a recognised international expert in Carbon Emissions. Fergal set up the Canadian Standards Association linkage in 2009.

Chris Mee: Chris founded CMSE in 1996. He set up Carbon Action in 2007. He now leads both organisations under the Chris Mee Group heading. Chris worked for Mobil Oil as a marine engineer from 1978 to 1990. In 1990 he joined Angus Fine Chemicals as Safety Manager. In 1992 he transferred to Sandoz Ringaskiddy as Construction Safety Manager. In the mid 90s he joined Intel for several years as a safety engineer. In 1996 Chris set up CMSE.
