The Sixties is a documentary miniseries which premiered on CNN on May 29, 2014. Produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman' studio Playtone, the 10-part series chronicled events and popular culture of the United States during the 1960s.^[1]

The premiere of The Sixties was a ratings success for CNN, beating Fox News Channel and MSNBC in key demographic ratings, and was seen by 1.39 total viewers. In November 2014, CNN announced that Playtone would produce a sequel, The Seventies, to premiere in 2015.^[2][1] It was later followed up by The Eighties in 2016.^[3]
