COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, also known as CIIT, is a public research university in Pakistan. It is a multi-campus institute with its headquarters located in the urban area of Islamabad. Established by the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South which was established in Islamabad on 4 & 5 October 1994, the commission as of 2015 has 23 member state. The CIIT was established in 1998 with charter in August 2000.[1]
CIIT is ranked among top 250 Asian Universities by QS University Rankings in 2014 and nationally it is ranked top in Computer Sciences & IT category and 9th overall in the country. It is also a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities[2] It main campus located in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad has over 5,000 students and 30,000 more students in its 6 satellite campuses. Its student body also includes international students from 9 Countries. CIIT has 18 Departments which combined offer 96 degree programs and has since inception produced 850 PhDs.[3]

Campuses
Vehari
Vehari District was established in 1976. It has an area of 4,373 km2 and an estimated population of 3.5 million. The district shares its boundaries with Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur districts on the Southern side, Pakpattan district on the Eastern, Lodhran district on the Western and Sahiwal and Khanewal districts on the Northern side.
Islamabad
COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, was established in 1998 to promote IT and to reduce the gap between the developed and developing world through applications of science and technology. During the first year of its establishment, the institute offered only a few certificate courses and a postgraduate diploma in computer studies with a single class room and limited resources.
Islamabad Campus, the main campus of CIIT is situated at Chak Shahzad, Islamabad. Around 5,000 students are enrolled in degree programs at the campus. There is a campus at Chak Shahzad of area 43 acres.
Lahore
COMSATS Institute of Information Technology was established in 2002. It is located on 1.5 km Ali Akbar Road(Defence Road), off Raiwind Road, about 25 minutes drive from the main city. The sprawling campus is a purpose built and spreads over an area of 185 acres. The Lahore Campus is equipped with computer labs, electronics and hardware labs. The campus offers 30% seats to children of industrial workers free of cost, besides other scholarships and financial aid to the students. The Lahore campus is the only CIIT campus that provides DDP (Dual Degree Programmes) affiliated with the Lancaster University, UK. [5]
Wah
COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Wah Campus was established in 2001 with the joint effort of CIIT and Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF). The campus is housed in spacious buildings and provides education in engineering, information technology, mathematics and business administration. 3,000 students are enrolled and 3,500 students have graduated from CIIT Wah since its inception.[6]
Sahiwal
COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Sahiwal, was established in 2006.
Sahiwal is a city with a population of about two million, located on the LMQ road, the half-way between Lahore and Multan. It was formally inaugurated in September 2007. Sahiwal and its surroundings are known for wheat, cotton, sugarcane, maize and rice crops. Main fruits are citrus, mangoes and guava. The campus has a total enrolment of more than 3,400 students. Its area is 36 acres.
Abbottabad
The campus has an area of 308 Kanals. It became functional in July 2001, and the first academic session started in September 2001.
