Cachepot

Cachepot in Art-Nouveau style

A cachepot (from the French Cache-pot = hiding a pot) is a decorative container for a plant and its pot. The decorative focus contrasts from the pot itself, which is often made from a raw material such as clay and often may be disfigured by spots of water or fertilizer.

A cachepot has no hole at its base for discharging excess water, so it does not spoil the furniture underneath. However, such a design presents a risk for the plant, whose roots can rot if left immersed in water.
